Intersound – the story so far..

Intersound Music Ltd opened it’s doors in 1998 in the small market town of Dursley in Gloucestershire. Founded by Steve Smith with his wife, Judith. Steve left his former career in the control systems industry to fulfil a longstanding ambition to make music his career. “Opening a music shop was a real challenge as this was completely new to me,… seat of the pants learning curve!”.  Now the shop is celebrating the start of it’s 26th year of trading.

It’s fair to say there have been many evolutionary changes along the way, and now Intersound stands out as a specialist guitar store, offering a diverse range of electric and acoustic instruments along with amplifiers and accessories.

Over the years, Intersound have developed close relationships with some excellent British luthiers such as Brook Guitars from Devon, Atkin Guitars from Kent, Steve Toon guitars from Cheltenham and Dave King Guitars of Reading, all leading hand made manufacturers of outstanding acoustic instruments as well as the unique carbon fibre acoustics from Rainsong USA.

We also have had a long association with one of the UK’s most inspirational electric guitars makers, Trevor Wilkinson, having one of the largest selections of his Fretking hand made instruments in the southwest, including some of Trev’s amazing one-off collectors pieces.

Our stocking policy is to find the very best guitars that are  “not the usual suspects”.

In addition Intersound also stocks a wide range of quality guitars from well known makers like Freshman, Tanglewood and Godin, with options to suit all pockets.

As well as new guitars Intersound usually have have a selection of second hand instruments, we even have one that once belonged to Jim Root from the band Slipknot.

Service and Repair

Intersound also provide a expert service and repair facility on the premises for all types of guitars. Also, if you have a problem with amplifiers or associated electronics, although we don’t service these ourselves, we may be able to put you in touch with someone who can.

Every guitar, new or used is serviced before sale, and we offer all customers a free service after three months in order to check the setup is to customer requirements and will make any minor adjustments if requested.
